BKTI-PII Holds the First National Seminar and Convention on Riau

The Indonesian Engineering Industrial Engineering College, the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (BKTI-PII) held a National Seminar on Industrial Engineering 2025 and the BKTI-PII Riau Convention on (21/05), located at the Muhammadiyah University of Riau, Pekanbaru.

Raising Strategic Theme "Increasing HR Capacity for National Green Industry Acceleration", This is part of the BKTI-PII regional convention and is a milestone as a convention on the Vocational Agency's region which was first held by the National Engineers' organization.

This event was opened by the Chairperson of PII Ir. Ilham Akbar Habibie, Rector of Muhammadiyah University of Riau Dr. H. Saidul Amin, MA, Chair of the Industrial Engineering Vocational Agency PII Ir. Wiza Hidayat, Chairperson of the Riau Region PII Ir. Ulul Azmi, and witnessed directly by all management and members of BKTI PII who attended the Muhammadiyah University of Riau, Wednesday (5/21/25).

The regional convention officially established Ir. Widya Laila, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng, as Chairman of the BKTI-PII Riau Region for the period 2025-2028, and became a pioneer for the implementation of subsequent regional conventions throughout Indonesia.

Ilham Habibie advised that PII strongly supports the government's efforts in developing industry to increase economic growth in the future.

"We face a big demand in the re-industrialization agenda, which is a process of reviving the power of national industrial engineers as the backbone of industrial growth. In the past, in the 1990s, our industry contributed to national GDP by almost 30%, compared to now only below 20%. Meanwhile, Chairman of BKTI-PII Wiza Hidayat said that in heading to Indonesia gold 2045, a strong industry is the main requirement to achieve this big vision.

For this reason, BK Industrial Engineering PII continues to be committed to encouraging synergy and collaboration between academics, practitioners, and stakeholders to create global competitive industrial ecosystems. With the right strategy and support from various parties, Indonesian industrial engineering engineers can bring significant changes to the progress of the nation.

"There is no developed country that only relies on raw natural resources. Developed countries are always driven by strong industries and this is where the role of engineers. The momentum of the first regional convention will be a forum to strengthen the network of industrial engineering engineers and increase the active role of BKTI-PII in the development of the industrial engineering engineer profession at the regional level of all Indonesia," explained Wiza Hidayat.

Chairperson of PII Riau Province, Ulul Azmi said the Indonesian Engineers Association as the home of engineers in Indonesia continued to encourage the creation of added value through the collaboration of the industrial and academics.

"I gave a high appreciation to BKTI-PII, for choosing Riau as the pioneer province of the first vocational agency convention and invited all engineers and prospective engineers to join PII as a house with engineers in Indonesia," explained Ulul Azmi.

As a concrete step from the acceleration of the green industry, this momentum is followed by a series of planting 1,000 tree seedlings as a real action of BKTI-PII on environmental sustainability. This initiative confirms that the development of green industries is not only based on technology and policies, but also grows from collective awareness and concrete action to preserve nature for the future.

"We are committed to eliminating carbon traces from all BKTI-PII activities and become pioneers of synergy in its real form of continuing steps for the future," said Moh Sadiq Helmy, Industrial Engineering and Sustainability Expert engineer which was also lined up to be a resource person in this activity representing the Greeneration Foundation.

In this event, BKTI PII also held a national seminar by inviting various expert speakers in the field of green industry including Dr. Ir. Indra Hasan, MT (Muhammadiyah Riau University); Ronny Bowo Leksono (Head of the Riau Regional Research and Innovation Agency); Armadi (PT. Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Perawang); Shadiq Helmy (Greeneration Foundation); Sri Darma Krida (Chair of the Indonesian Muslim Scientist and Professional Community); and Tigor Sardison Ompusunggu (PT. Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper).
