PII Sulsel Holds Halal Bihalal Event, Strengthens the Role of Engineers in Regional Development
The Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII) of the South Sulawesi region successfully held a Halal Bihalal event which took place at the Hyatt Place Makassar, Thursday (3/4/2025). This activity is not only a place for friendship between South Sulawesi PII management, but also a forum to strengthen the contribution of engineers in regional development, product independence, and expansion of employment.
Chairman of PII Sulsel, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc, in his remarks stressed the importance of engineers to not only become labor, but also as industry players who created innovative products.
"We encourage PII members to develop technology-based products that can compete in the market, both local and national," he said. This event is also a momentum to reinforce the role of engineers in the development of South Sulawesi infrastructure and economy.
"Engineers have great responsibilities in encouraging regional progress, ranging from infrastructure planning, industrial development, to the use of appropriate technology," said Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, who became the moderator in this event.
One of the important agendas in this event is the strengthening of the PII management structure at the district/city level.
"We will reactivate PII branches that are not yet optimal moving, so that our programs can be more directed and beneficial for members and the community," explained Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Rusman, ST., MT., HDI which is also a Secretary of the South Sulawesi PII region.
With a more solid management structure, PII Sulsel hopes to expand the reach of training, assistance and advocacy programs for engineers in the regions.
This halal bihalal activity was closed with a light discussion and commitment of all participants to make South Sulawesi PII a strategic partner in the sustainable development of South Sulawesi.
