The Pekanbaru City branch of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) held a national engineering seminar with the theme Innovation and Multidisciplinary Collaboration in Engineering Research and Development which was held in the Ballroom of the Furaya hotel, Friday (11 /10/2024).

In his speech, Ir. Ulul Azmi as chairman of the committee said that this activity was to realize innovative engineering knowledge and multidisciplinary collaboration in research and development in Pekanbaru City in particular and Riau Province in general.

"Apart from that, this activity is a series of branch deliberations in the election of the chairman of the PII Pekanbaru branch for the 2024-2027 period which we will hold tomorrow," explained Ulul Azmi.

"And Alhamdulillah, more than 100 participants attended this seminar, according to the online attendance and hopefully in the seminar later, the participants, mostly students majoring in engineering at several universities in Pekanbaru City, will be able to take their knowledge and make it useful in the future as the next generation," concluded Ulul Azmi.

On the same occasion, the general chairman of PII, represented by the Executive Director of PII, Ir. Habinie Razak said that this activity was a series of every branch deliberation, work meeting in order to increase scientific knowledge and contemporary engineering issues that needed to be known and mastered so that the competence of PII members increased.

"PII is a professional organization, not a political organization, so what is prioritized is the ethic of professionalism in making decisions and acting to develop this PII organization and routine as an engineer," said Habibie.

"With this seminar, we hope that the students who attend will be able to provide a broader understanding of engineering and can take the engineering profession more seriously," said Habibie.

Apart from that, Indonesia is still under development, so we hope that our young engineers can take up their roles, not let foreign engineers work in our country.

"Because of this, PII encourages engineers to continue to improve their competence, so that not only within the country, abroad, our engineers can compete," said Habibie.

On this occasion, the general chairman advised all participants that PII is a leading professional organization, not only at the national level, but has received international recognition.

"So please be filled by Indonesian engineers who will develop this PII even better by prioritizing 3 pillars, namely professionalism, having a strategic role in the professional community, and having added value and competing globally," concluded Habibie.

On the same occasion, the Regional Secretary of Pekanbaru City, Indar Pomi Nasution hopes that this seminar can open insight for Riau engineers in Pekanbaru City.

"Apart from that, how come friends from PII have innovations to help and overcome the problems that exist in Pekanbaru City," said Indra Pomi.

"We urge students participating in seminars to study seriously and diligently, innovate and focus in their fields for the future and not to carry out activities that do not support their dreams," explained Indra Pomi.

"And we advise students to continue studying well and diligently, and provide positive input for development in Pekanbaru City," concluded Indra Pomi.

Airfield Commander Roesmin Nurjadin who attended the seminar, Marsma TNI Feri Yunaldi, said that we, the Indonesian Air Force, are synonymous with technology, so it is quite appropriate for us to collaborate and contribute with these young engineers.

"We support this activity, because we happen to have sophisticated defense equipment, so by collaborating, we can work together to build defense infrastructure at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base in particular," concluded Feri. (Hendra)
