UNM Inaugurates 15 New Engineers, Prof. Karta Jayadi Entrusts Integrity and Professionalism
The Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PPI) of the Faculty of Engineering, Makassar State University (UNM) held its inaugural Professional Engineer Oath Taking event at the Four Points Hotel Makassar on Wednesday (18/9/2024).
A total of 15 graduates were officially sworn in during the solemn event, marking the beginning of their journey as professional engineers who are ready to contribute in the field of engineering.
The event was opened by UNM Rector, Prof. Dr. Karta Jayadi, M.Sn. The professor of Art Anthropology emphasized the important role of engineers in nation building.
“Graduates of the Professional Engineer Program have a great responsibility to maintain their integrity and professionalism in every aspect of their work. We hope they can become agents of change in the engineering world,” he said.
The oath-taking procession was led by the Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Professional Engineers, Ir. M. Sapri Pamulu, M.Eng., Ph.D., IPU.
In his speech, Sapri Pamulu said that an engineer is not only technically responsible, but also morally.
“Ethics and responsibility are the foundation of the engineering profession. You are the hope for the advancement of Indonesia's infrastructure and technology,” said Sapri Pamulu.
