
ITB Holds Oath Taking Engineers Semester I Academic Year 2024/2025
Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) held the Oath/Promise Taking Ceremony for the Engineering Profession Program Study (PSPPI) of the 2024/2025 Academic Year, on Saturday (22/2/2025), at Sasana Budaya Ganesa (Sabuga) - Bandung.
The event started with a report on the program's organization presented by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of ITB, Prof. Dr. Irwan Meilano, S.T., M.Sc.
The Vice Rector stated that this semester, PSPPI ITB used the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) system and successfully graduated 291 students out of 293 participants.
He also mentioned, “This achievement demonstrates the high dedication of all students, as well as the full support from their supervising lecturers and academic staff,” said Prof. Irwan.
ITB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., in his speech emphasized the important role of engineers in realizing the vision of ‘Indonesia Gold 2045.’
"By holding the title of engineer, you have a great responsibility to contribute to the nation. ITB is committed to continue producing competent and innovative engineers," he said.
The highlight of the event was the oath-taking ceremony, led directly by the ITB Rector, followed by all the graduates, both those present in person and online.
The graduates pledged to uphold professionalism by always prioritizing the safety, health, and well-being of society, as well as adhering to the engineer's code of ethics.
After the oath-taking, the event continued with the signing of the oath document and the pinning of the ITB engineer pin to a representative graduate.
In addition, the Head of the Engineering Profession Program Study Subdirectorate of ITB, Ir. M. Agus Kariem, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPM., handed over the list of new engineers to PII as an official recognition of their professional status.
It was stated that Indonesian engineers must be prepared to face global challenges, including the acceleration of reindustrialization and digital transformation.
“ITB has proven itself as one of the educational institutions producing excellent engineers. We hope the graduates can be the driving force for national development,” he said.
Additional information: The Engineering Profession Program Study (PSPPI) of ITB is carried out as a follow-up to the mandate given by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia through the Director-General of Technology and Higher Education Institutions - Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, in the letter Number 674/C.C4/KL/2016, April 11, 2016.
The legal basis consists of three interrelated laws, stating that only Higher Education Institutions legally have the authority to organize the Engineering Profession Program (PPI) and award the Engineer (Ir.) title.
To guide the implementation of the PPI, the Ministerial Regulation of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2016 on the Implementation of the Engineering Profession Program Study was issued.
