Over the past 15 years, it has contributed significantly to the development of engineering competence in East Luwu.

Media Construction - The East Luwu branch of the Indonesian Engineers Association held a branch meeting. In the Muscab which took place on August 11, 2024 at Mireya Hotel, Sorowako, the Nickel city where PT Vale operates, Ir. Baso Murdin, ST, MT, IPM, ACPE, CEA was elected by acclamation as Chairman of PII East Luwu Branch.

The Muscab was opened in a hybrid manner by the Secretary General of PII, Ir Bambang Goeritno, MSc, MPA, IPU, ACPE, accompanied by the Executive Director of PII Center, Ir Habibie Razak, IPU, EngExec, FIEAust, CPEng, APEC Eng, IntPE (Aus).

In his remarks, PII Secretary General, Ir. Bambang Goeritno advised all PII East Luwu administrators to continue the achievements that have been achieved in the previous period to be further improved in terms of increasing the number of members and owners of Professional Engineer certificates and Engineer Registration Certificates. Also PII East Luwu participation in activities on a national and international scale.

Contacted separately, the Executive Director of PII Center, Ir. Habibie told the media team present that PII East Luwu Branch is one of the most active branches in Indonesia today, with the number of PII members approaching 600 Engineers operating in Sorowako City and East Luwu Regency.

Baso Murdin who is familiarly called Kaka Basmurd previously served as Secretary in two periods 2017 - 2021 and 2021 - 2024 accompanying Ir. Irwan Bachri, IPM. Apart from being the Secretary of PII East Luwu, Kaka Basmurd is also a board member of PII Center in the Legal and Advocacy Committee.

PII East Luwu for the past 15 years has made a significant contribution to the development of engineering competence in East Luwu, even now PT Vale Indonesia is one of the role model industries that has consistently implemented the mandate of Law 11/2014 on engineering.

Congratulations to Ir. Basmurd as the elected Chairperson for the 2024-2027 period, hopefully PII will continue to spread its wings in industrial cities like Sorowako and its administrators and members will continue to make the best contribution in East Luwu in particular and South Sulawesi in general.
