Rapimnas PII: Strengthen The Role of Indonesian Engineers Towards The Golden Era of Indonesia 2045
SILANEWS-The Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII) held a Rapimnas (National Leadership Meeting) at the PUPR Ministry Auditorium, Friday (31/5). The activity with the theme 'Strengthening the Role of Indonesian Engineers in Advancing the Nation Towards Indonesia's Golden Era 2045' was also coupled with the 73rd Anniversary of PII.
In his opening remarks, the General Chair of PII, Dr.Ir.Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga, M.Eng.SC, IPU, ACPE, APEC Eng. stated that during the period December 2022 to May 2024, PII had succeeded in achieving various phenomenal achievements.
'As of May 2024, 86,000 engineers have been registered with PII, 30,000 Professional Engineers, more than 7 PII representatives overseas (Singapore, Malaysia, Kuwait, US, Australia, NZ and PRC), 27 agencies "Vocational, more than 225 branches from 34 provinces in Indonesia, 2800 registered ASEAN Engineers and more than 400 registered APEC Engineers," said Danis.
"Apart from that," he continued, "PII together with The Institution Engineers of Australia (Engineers Australia – EA) has signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) regarding the recognition of professional engineers between the two institutions. This MRA will provide very broad benefits in terms of increasing the engineering mobility of engineers from both countries.
'PII also participates and initiates various engineering-related activities. For example, the ASEAN Engineering Register Roadshow in various cities, holding CAFEO in Bali last November 2023, holding inaugurations and taking oaths at 43 universities that already have PSPPI permits, participating in the World Water Forum in Bali in May 2024, Establishing the PII China chapter and New Zealand, to the Renewable Energy Webinar," added Danis.
On the occasion of the PII National Meeting, the location for the PII Congress in December 2024 was also determined, namely Yogyakarta. Hermawan Ardianto, as the representative candidate to host the PII Congress, stated that he was ready for the implementation and to enliven it, he would hold various Pre-Congress activities.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of PII Dr.-Ing. H. Ilham Akbar Habibie, Dipl.Ing., M.B.A, in his remarks said that PII must add more effort, especially in increasing motivation for engineering education, which is currently showing indications of decline in Generation-Z.
'Of course this must be accompanied by an increase in capable industrial capacity, so that more engineers can be absorbed and at the same time can adapt to technological advances and developments of the times,' said Ilham enthusiastically.
