
Ir. Junaidi was elected as Chairman of PII Batam Branch for 2025-2028
The Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII) Batam City Branch Management successfully held a Branch Conference (Muscab) on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the 3rd Floor Postgraduate Building, Batam University (Uniba), Riau Islands Province.
Muscab which is the highest forum at the branch level aims to evaluate the performance of the organization and elect a new chairman for the 2025-2028 service period. After going through the plenary and voting trial process, Muscab in deliberation and consensus established Ir. Junaidi, ST., IPP as Chair of the New Batam City Branch PII, in accordance with Article 6 paragraph 1 of PII AD/ART.
The event was attended by PII members from various sectors, including academics, professionals, and representatives of government and private agencies.
Chair of the Muscab Committee, Dr. Ir. Edi Indera, ST., M.Sc, said that there are four candidates for chairman who have passed administrative verification and are entitled to advance in the contestation. They are:
- Ir. Adv Ahmad Muda Bahri, ST., MIL, HDI
- dr. Ir. Moden Purba, ST., MT, HDI
- Ir. Junaidi, ST., IPP
- Ir. Sanusi, ST., M.Eng., Ph.D, HDI
"These four candidates represent the Triple Helix elements in the synonymous sector, namely practitioners, academics, and state apparatus," he said.
Chairman of PII Batam for the period 2019-2024, Ir. Prastiwo Anggoro, said that this year's Muscab was special because for the first time the number of candidates for more than two leaders. He also expressed his appreciation to all parties who had supported for two periods of his leadership.
"Over the past six years, we have built a strong foundation of engineering, one of which is by increasing the number of members by 370%, from 273 members in 2019 to 1,020 in March 2025," he explained.
In addition, his leadership helped encourage the increase in the number of engineers holding the Registration Certificate of Engineers (Stri), which now reaches 365 people. This increase was also supported by the presence of the Engineer Professional Study Program at the Batam State Polytechnic, which was also initiated by the Batam Branch PII.
He hopes that the new leadership can bring PII Batam to run faster in answering the challenges of development and strengthening the position of Indonesian engineers in the midst of the entry of foreign workers into Batam.
Rector of Batam University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Samsul Rizal, M.Eng., Ipu., Asean Eng, also expressed his support for the implementation of Muscab.
"Congratulations to the elected chairman. Hopefully the trust and be able to bring PII Batam more advanced," he said.
In addition to choosing a new chairman, Muscab also discussed a number of strategic programs, such as increasing engineers' certification, technical training development, and collaboration with universities and the industrial world.
The activity was closed with the signing of the minutes and photo sessions with all participants. The atmosphere was running smoothly, full of spirit of togetherness, and reflecting PII's commitment in maintaining professionalism and integrity of Indonesian engineers. (***)
