Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) Dr-Ing. Ir. Ilham Akbar Habibie, Dipl.Ing, MBA, IPU, said that if the job of scientists is to find the truth, then it is the job of engineers to find solutions. He conveyed this at the XXIII PII Congress in 2024 which was located at the Royal Ambarukmo Hotel Yogyakarta, (05/12/2024).

The 2024 PII Congress will determine the Deputy General Chair for the 2024-2027 period, and the current PII Deputy General Chair, Ilham A. Habibie, will be appointed as PII General Chair for the 2024-2027 period, replacing Dr. Ir. Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga.

"As Deputy General Chair of the Indonesian Engineers Association 2021-2024, I completed the Opening of the XXIII PII Congress which was also attended by several important figures, including the Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, Governor D.I. Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, and all participants of the XXIII PII Congress.

"Thank you to the more than 1,300 PII members from all over Indonesia who attended this congress. "I believe that we engineers can create job creation, not just job qualifications, as a form of responsibility to the next generation so that they can have lots of quality jobs," said Ilham Habibie as quoted by his IG.

Ilham is the son of the 3rd President of the Republic of Indonesia, namely B.J. Habibie was born on May 16 1963 in Aaehen, Germany. His background is not much different from his father's, namely being involved in the world of aircraft technology.

Since birth, Ilham has lived in Germany for 31 years. Ilham attended Elementary School Windmuehlenweg, High School Hochrad, and the Technical University of Munich. Furthermore, Ilham completed his engineering and doctoral degrees at the University of Munich.

Apart from that, in 2003, Ilham studied management at the School of Business, University of Chicago, Singapore with an MBA degree. He started his career by working for the Boeing aircraft company. Not long after working there, Ilham was asked to go to Indonesia to help design the airplane proposed by his father.

Then, Ilham was elected as Marketing Director at PT Dirgantara Indonesia, the company that succeeded in creating the domestic aircraft code N-250. Then, in 2004, Ilham decided to continue the family company, namely the Ilthabi Rekatama Group.
